Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Alabama is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHSWA is dedicated to eliminating poverty housing as a matter of conscience and action. Habitat builds simple decent houses in partnership with people in need in the community. Through donations of time, materials and investment, Habitat houses are sold to families at no profit, financed with affordable no-interest loans. In May 2011 Habitat for Humanity in Mobile County changed its name to Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Alabama due to the expansion into Washington County. Read more... You can donate vehicles—including automobiles, trucks, RVs, boats, airplanes, and farm and construction equipment—running or not! Read more... We have several programs underway at this time, programs that need funding and volunteers! Several of these programs are new to Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Alabama, so check them out and see which one interests you the most! The very foundation of our organization is the Home Ownership Program. We partner with low-income families to build safe, decent, affordable homes that will positively affect their lives for many years after they move into their Habitat home.
